We do! After-hours you can send a direct text to (289) 536-4246 or you can call to speak with our e-receptionist. Your information will be collected promptly and a member of our administrative team will return your call within 1-2 hours.
How often should HVAC systems be serviced?
Most HVAC systems should be professionally serviced once per year. Regular maintenance helps improve efficiency, prevent breakdowns, and extend equipment lifespan. It can also help identify small issues before they become expensive repairs and ensure the system is operating safely and efficiently, which can lower energy bills and prevent unexpected breakdowns.
Do geothermal systems require maintenance?
Yes. Although geothermal systems have fewer outdoor components, the indoor components still require regular maintenance to check/clean blowers, filters, system pressures, and so on.
What are signs my HVAC system needs service?
There are not always obvious symptoms when HVAC equipment begins to accumulate dirt, especially in the early stages. In many cases, warning signs only appear once debris has built up over time and has already started to cause damage. Some signs may include: Strange noises or vibrations, uneven heating or cooling, rising energy bills, frequent system cycling, poor airflow and/or unusual smells from vents.
What areas do you service?
Farr Mechanical has two branches: one in the GTA and one in Muskoka. This allows us to provide service, maintenance and installation to customers all across the GTA, Durham, Peel, York, Simcoe, Muskoka, Cottage Country and surrounding areas.
Is there anything a homeowner can do on their own to maintain their HVAC equipment?
Homeowners can perform a few simple tasks to help keep their HVAC system running efficiently between professional service visits. This includes replacing or cleaning air filters every 1–3 months, keeping outdoor air conditioning or heat pump units clear of debris, checking thermostat settings and batteries, ensuring vents and registers are not blocked by furniture, and occasionally checking that condensate drains are flowing properly. However, tasks involving electrical components, gas appliances, refrigerant, or combustion testing should always be handled by a licensed HVAC technician during annual professional maintenance.
If I have a question, can you help me over the phone?
We can certainly try! Whenever possible, we’re happy to assist homeowners over the phone or via video call to see if an issue can be resolved remotely. In some cases, this can also help us narrow down the diagnosis and reduce the amount of time required on site if a technician does need to visit. That said, due to the complex nature of HVAC equipment, most issues ultimately require an in-person inspection by a certified technician.
